Aroldis Chapman Continues to Make History in His 17th MLB Season

Aroldis Chapman continues to add to an extraordinary Major League Baseball career.

The Cuban left-handed pitcher is in his 17th MLB season with the Boston Red Sox, and MLB Español recently celebrated his remarkable career during Hispanic Heritage Month, highlighting some of the milestones that have defined his journey.

The graphic featured several of Chapman's biggest accomplishments, including nine All-Star selections, two World Series championships, two Mariano Rivera Awards, and All-MLB First and Second Team honors.

But Chapman is still making history on the mound.

In 2026, the veteran reliever has posted a 1.95 ERA with 34 saves in 52 appearances, continuing to perform at a high level despite being deep into his MLB career. He also recently reached one of the most impressive milestones of his career by recording his 400th career save.

Chapman's achievement places him among an exclusive group of relievers to reach the 400-save mark, adding another historic chapter to his already decorated career.

The 2026 season has not been completely without challenges, as Chapman has dealt with a minor lat injury. Nevertheless, his production has remained impressive, and his ability to continue contributing at this stage of his career has been notable.

From his years as one of baseball's most dominant flamethrowers to his longevity as an elite late-inning reliever, Chapman has built a résumé filled with memorable accomplishments.

Now in his 17th season, the Cuban star continues to add to that legacy—while representing another remarkable chapter in the long history of Latin American players in Major League Baseball.
